As an artist, my intent is to highlight the exciting beauty along with the personalities and behaviors of the wildlife living around us, as I feel they are often overlooked and not considered. I want to place these animals in the spotlight, often at a climactic moment in time. Whether a red-breasted merganser is catching its meal, or a mute swan is preening its feathers, I hope to arouse curiosity and appreciation within the viewer. I especially enjoy painting each animal face, and try to capture their spirit. I take my own reference photos for my paintings, and feel deeply connected to the scenes witnessed. I feel so lucky to share my home with such a vast array of animals, and I want to consciously make choices everyday with their best interests in mind.

I also am strongly interested in the peculiarities of people, and take influence from low-brow American popular culture and reality television. I experiment with vibrant, and often day-glow color palettes, using primarily acrylics.
